I had a long and successful career as a highly qualified hardware, software and systems engineer, manager and consultant.  I subsequently made the decision to leave this “rat race” profession to pursue a different path, following my long term hobby of photography.  I took, and passed, a City and Guilds qualification in photography and passed the challenging Adobe Certified Expert exam in Photoshop CS4.  I have since upgraded to the CS5 version of Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite CS5 applications including Dreamweaver and Flash Professional. I use these applications for photo enhancement and re-touching and for WEB site design and creation.

I have completed various photographic assignments for customers including product photography for The Posh Pie Company, event photography for Woodley Town Council, corporate event photography for the ResourceLink User Group and band photography for the musician Mordecai Smyth.

Why Flying Custard Photography?

Melissa (Lissa)

Flying Custard

The Flying Custard

Two years ago my cousin Melissa, known as Lissa, encouraged me to enrol on the City and Guilds photography course which I have now completed with a distinction.  This course greatly boosted my confidence, enthusiasm and knowledge in photography, making it feasible for me to pursue my new career as a professional photographer and WEB site designer.

Very sadly, Lissa died in 2009, meaning that she never knew how her encouragement lead to my pursuing a career in photography.  Meanwhile, one of her sons, Ben, christened my yellow Seat Leon “The Flying Custard”. Given that Lissa loved my car and that its nickname came from her son, the company was named after it, in memory of that lovely lady to whom I owe so much. Hopefully it is also a name people will remember!
